ASSOCIATION DES SENEGALAIS D’INDIANA
The name of the organization is Association des Sénégalais d’Indiana (A.S.I.). The organization is formed since 2004 under the Indiana Nonprofit Corporation Act of 1991, as amended. It has not been formed for the purpose of making any profit or for personal financial gain.
The assets and income of the organization shall not be distributed to, or used to benefit, any trustees, directors, officers, or other individuals. All assets and income shall be used solely to promote the organization’s purposes as described below. However, the organization may pay reasonable compensation to employees and independent contractors for services rendered.
A.S.I. shall not engage in any activities not permitted for organizations exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It shall not endorse or oppose any candidate for public office.
Purpose
The Association’s purpose is to identify and support the needs of its members, enhance the quality of life in the community, and promote Senegalese culture in Indiana. This will be achieved through self-help initiatives, as well as the use of federal, state, and local funding, and charitable contributions.
Mission
The mission of the Association of Senegalese in Indiana is to:
- Support its members through mutual aid and solidarity initiatives,
- Strengthen community ties through social and cultural projects,
- Promote and showcase the richness of Senegalese culture to the public in Indiana,
- Collaborate with public and private partners to mobilize resources in the service of the community.

President of the Republic of Senegal
Bassirou Diomaye Faye was inaugurated as President of the Republic on April 2, 2024. At 44 years old, he became the youngest person to hold this office. He appointed Ousmane Sonko as Prime Minister on the same day. The new government was appointed by Diomaye Faye on April 5.

Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye thus won the 2024 presidential election at the age of 44, becoming the youngest elected president in the country’s history.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye, born on March 25, 1980 in Ndiaganiao, is a Senegalese finance inspector and statesman, President of Senegal since April 2, 2024.
